Private carts are permitted on the course. Please read below to make sure you meet local regulations and to find information on purchasing required village cart parking stickers.

Village of Grand Beach Golf Cart Regulations

All cart operators must be 16 years old with a valid driver’s license to operate a cart on the village streets.

All cart operators must be 14 years old to operate a cart on the golf course

  1. Driver of the cart must possess a valid driver’s license to operate a cart on the streets

  2. Carts must obey all traffic laws:

    • Stop at stop signs

    • Respect one-way streets

    • Allow faster traffic to pass

  3. Cart must have a working head and tail light to operate at night.

  4. The number of persons on the cart must not exceed the seating capacity of the cart

    • All persons must be in a seat

    • Children can not be held in the lap of the driver

    • The driver’s ability to safely operate the cart must not be impaired by too many people in the seat

    • There is no riding backwards on the front of the cart.

    • There is no riding on the back where the golf clubs are strapped in.

  5. All carts must have an annual Village of Grand Beach sticker and have numbers on both side of the cart.

  6. Carts rented from an outside cart agency are required to be stickered while they are in the Village of Grand Beach. Temporary cart stickers should be purchased at the Pro Shop. Cart operators without temporary stickers will be ticketed.

  7. Carts that are rented from the Pro Shop are for use on the golf course only and are not allowed on the streets. The driver of a rental cart must be 18 years old.

  8. No Carts are allowed on the golf course from 1/2 hour after dark until 1/2 hour before dawn.

These few simple rules should help keep our Village Streets safe. If anyone sees infractions being committed, contact the Grand Beach Police Department by calling Berrien County Dispatch at 866-630-7679. Remember, infractions on golf carts may result in points on your driving record. Serious infractions such as operating a cart recklessly or intoxicated my also result in arrest.

Annual Golf Sticker Notice

To apply for a sticker for a new golf cart or previously unstickered golf cart, please fill out the application form and return it with your payment to “Grand Beach Golf".”

For current 2023 Sticker-Holders, please review the name, address, and sticker number on your sticker notice and include the notice with your payment to “Grand Beach Golf.” If you no longer possess a golf-cart, please call the village offices and let us know so we may recycle your sticker number for future use.

Property owners in the village of Grand Beach pay the resident fee as follows:
Before May 1st: $265
Before June 1st: $290
June 1st or after: $315

Persons who do not own property in the Village of Grand Beach must contact the village offices to apply for a sticker, or review their sticker notice, and pay the non-resident fee as follows:
Before May 1st: $305
May 1st or after: $335

GOLF CART REQUIREMENTS

If you want to operate a golf cart on the streets, Michigan Law mandates the vehicle be street legal. For a golf cart to be street legal, it must be upgraded to have all the equipment required for 4-wheeled vehicles including:

1.  Low & high beam headlights
2. Tail lights
3. Brake lights
4. Turn signals
5. Windshield & wipers
6. Bumpers
7. Seat belts
8. Horn
9. Mirrors, etc.

Golf carts upgraded for road use must be titled as Assembled using the assembled vehicle title process. An electric-powered golf cart can be titled as a Low Speed Vehicle with "Low Speed'' as the body style if the top speed is 25 mph or less.

It is necessary for you to have a valid driver license to operate this vehicle on the street as well as having it registered. To have this vehicle titled and registered you may visit any Secretary of State branch office. All carts must also have an annual Village of Grand Beach parking sticker on them. Carts that have been rented from an outside agency must have the parking sticker on them even if only here for a couple of days. Temporary stickers are available at the pro-shop for rental carts. All rules of the road apply.
